Product recommendations

The recommendations section shows a row of related or complementary products below the main product content. Shopify decides which products to show; the section renders them.

Add it in the theme editor from the product template. It's available only on product pages.

Settings

1. Heading — the row title. Defaults to "Completes the program".
2. Recommendation type — Related products or Complementary products. Related draws on what Shopify's algorithm links to this product; complementary uses the pairings from Search & Discovery.
3. Number of products — 2 to 8. Defaults to 4.

Note: Complementary recommendations come from Shopify's Search & Discovery app. Without it set up, complementary returns nothing and the section hides itself.

Loading and empty behavior

The section loads its cards after the page paints, once it scrolls into view. Until they arrive it shows a skeleton — a placeholder title bar and card outlines matching the product count you set.

When Shopify returns no recommendations, the section collapses to nothing. No heading, no empty state — it isn't there. That keeps products with no matches from showing an empty row.
